Support Work
Practical, person-first disability support — built around your goals, not just the plan.
MENTORING · SUPPORT · COMMUNITY · ADVENTURE
Mentoring and disability support for people of all ages across the Goulburn Valley. We build trusted relationships and practical skills that help people reach goals that matter to them.
Growth isn’t a race. We walk alongside you and take it one step at a time.
WHAT WE DO
Practical, person-first disability support — built around your goals, not just the plan.
One-on-one mentoring with a positive role model in your corner.
Local groups and real connection, because nobody grows well alone.
Camps, hiking, cooking, Jiu-Jitsu, Muay Thai and trying new things together.
GETTING STARTED
Call, message or send an enquiry. We’ll chat about what you’re looking for.
We get to know the person — their goals, interests and support needs.
If TBBP is a good fit, we agree on suitable support and what happens next.
CONNECTION. CONFIDENCE. INDEPENDENCE.
Our name reflects the role we play: someone in your corner, just like a good big brother. We start by building trust. From there it’s setting goals, learning everyday skills like cooking a meal or building a routine, getting out into the community and having someone to talk to who gets it.

WHO YOU’LL MEET
Real people from the Goulburn Valley who show up, keep their word and back you all the way.
Founder & Director
I grew up in foster care, without a place that truly felt like home or a sense that I belonged. That experience has shaped who I am and why I founded The Big Brother Project. It’s also why I care deeply about helping people feel seen, valued and supported.
Outside of mentoring, I enjoy playing and watching sport, heading out on a 4WD adventure and exploring new places. I’m just as happy winding down with a game or a good movie.
Most of all, I love being a dad. It’s the part of my life that means the most to me, and spending time with my family is something I value deeply.
My approach to mentoring starts with getting to know you. I take the time to listen, understand what matters to you and build trust through being consistent and reliable.
Together, we set goals that are meaningful to you and work towards them at your pace. That might mean building everyday skills, getting out into the community, trying something new or having someone to talk things through with.
I bring a practical, relaxed approach, with space for a laugh along the way. I’m here to encourage you, respect your choices and celebrate your progress as your confidence and independence grow.

I’ve been a hairdresser for 24 years, and what I’ve always loved most is connecting with people and seeing them leave feeling better than when they walked in. A good chat, a bit of care and someone who really listens can change someone’s whole day.
I also have a background in supporting people with disabilities in work and education. That experience showed me that everyone has strengths, even when they can’t see them yet, and that confidence grows when someone believes in you.
Outside of work, you’ll usually find me outdoors in the sunshine, camping, walking or keeping active. I love cooking and nutrition, and getting creative with arts and crafts.
My approach is warm and down to earth. I love encouraging people to recognise their strengths, work towards their goals and feel proud of what they achieve.

I grew up in England near a housing estate and saw friends take difficult paths. Those experiences stayed with me. After a long military career, I wanted to help people find a way forward, which led me to work with people in the prison system.
I later became a support worker and loved it from day one. I enjoy hearing people’s stories and discovering what matters to them. Everyone deserves patience, kindness and someone who takes time to understand them, sometimes over a chat and a shared laugh.
Outside of work, I love camping, hiking and a game of tennis. I’m into computers and technology, and I enjoy 3D printing, building and designing things. I’m always happy to share what I’ve learned or help someone get a project of their own started.
My approach is calm, patient and steady. I take the time to get to know people, and I’m there to back them as they work towards what matters to them.

Mentor
I grew up learning to be kind, lend a hand and be part of my community. Volunteering with disadvantaged children when I was young showed me how much a smile and a listening ear can mean.
My working life began teaching children with disabilities to swim, followed by many years as a vet nurse. I later supported the Bayside community as a local laws officer before spending almost 10 years as a correctional officer. Across those roles, what’s mattered most to me is taking time to connect, listen and help people feel supported.
Outside of work, I’m happiest around animals, out camping or in the garden. I love a good op shop find, and I’m a big fan of thriller and horror movies and all things spooky.
I bring patience, a calm presence and a good sense of humour. I’m here to listen, encourage and help people feel supported as they take their next steps.

I’m a caring, patient and down-to-earth person who loves helping others feel valued, supported and included. My background in education support and allied health assistance has taught me the importance of patience, understanding and real connection.
Sometimes the little things, like having someone listen, share a laugh or encourage you to try something new, make the biggest difference. I love helping people grow in confidence, build independence and feel comfortable being themselves.
I’m passionate about helping people build independence, explore their interests, get involved in the community and enjoy life in a way that feels right for them. My approach is always supportive, encouraging and understanding.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with family, shopping, getting outdoors and having a good laugh.

Before becoming a support worker, I worked as a photographer and spent 10 years teaching art in primary schools. I’ve always believed that art is a wonderful way to express yourself, build confidence and connect with others.
I’ve also been involved in martial arts for 16 years, teaching both children and adults. I love seeing people grow in confidence, challenge themselves and achieve things they never thought they could.
What I enjoy most about support work is being able to bring my passions and experiences together to help others discover their strengths, learn new skills and have fun along the way.
Don’t let the years of martial arts fool you – I’m a big softie at heart. I take a calm, gentle approach, go at each person’s pace and make sure they feel safe, supported and comfortable being themselves.

ACTIVITIES & ADVENTURE

Camps are arranged on request when there’s enough interest. There’s no set order. The right camp depends on each young person’s goals and readiness.
Shared challenges and new experiences, at your own pace. A chance to build trust, make mates and find the courage to give things a go.
For young people ready to step up. Practise decision-making, teamwork and speaking up, with our mentors responsible for supervision and safety throughout.
Time outdoors, away from the noise, to slow down, reflect and plan manageable next steps. A mentoring experience, not a crisis or clinical program.
JIU-JITSU & MUAY THAI
A chance to practise balance, focus and self-control, learn new skills and be part of a good crew. Taking part is always a choice.
We work with Shepparton Jiu-Jitsu Academy and CD Martial Arts, both trained in conflict resolution and de-escalation. We can support participants to attend classes, or start with 1:1 sessions to build confidence first.

We help people back themselves, and their choices lead the way.
Every step counts, big or small.
We help people find their people and their place.
We turn up when we say we will, and we do what we say.
People come first. Goals and paperwork follow.
IN THEIR WORDS
Absolutely amazing staff that go above and beyond for clients. Can’t recommend them enough… Thank you for everything you have done for my children, we honestly could not have gotten through without you all.
Jordan is a highly professional and genuinely passionate support worker with the Big Brother Project. He brings warmth, reliability, and a strong sense of commitment to every interaction, always placing the needs and wellbeing of participants first.
Fantastic bunch of people. Always enjoy my time with them.
FOR SCHOOLS, SERVICES & SUPPORT COORDINATORS
We work alongside families, schools, support coordinators and local services. Give us a call or send an enquiry and choose “Partnering with TBBP”, and we’ll send you our referral information sheet.
GOOD QUESTIONS
No. TBBP is not NDIS registered. We can discuss eligible supports for people with self-managed or plan-managed NDIS funding. Some supports require a registered provider, and we’ll tell you if that applies.
Not always. We support people with self-managed or plan-managed NDIS funding, and we’re happy to talk through other options for mentoring and activities.
NDIS funding may cover eligible disability-related support needed to take part in an activity. Ordinary activity costs, such as memberships, entry fees and equipment, are generally paid separately. We’ll clarify the proposed support and costs before anything is agreed.
All ages and backgrounds. “Big brother” describes the role we play, not who we work with.
Shepparton, Mooroopna, Tatura and across the Goulburn Valley.
We’ll chat about what you’re looking for, work out whether we’re a good fit and explain the next steps. No pressure, no obligation.
